IceMule’s founder, James Collie, developed the product out of necessity. Collie was gearing up for a hike with his friends in Virginia, but he couldn’t find a good waterproof portable cooler to carry the cold drinks they needed.  So, Collie created a make-shift cooler out of a day pack and double lined it with plastic trash bags.  He filled the inside with cold drinks and sandwiches.

Well into the hike, the trash bags broke and ice water poured down his back. His wet back, warm drinks and soggy food started the wheels in his head to turning.  Once home, Collie set to work designing a soft-sided, waterproof and portable cooler that could carry ice and be comfortable enough to carry on both long hikes and relaxing days at the beach.

After dozens of prototypes and many days of field testing, the ultimate cooler was born.  Now, outdoorsmen and women are relying on the IceMule to keep all of their adventures cool.

On December 4, 2013, IceMule Cooler Company successfully completed a Kickstarter project which helped raise funds for the initial production run of the newly expanded IceMule Cooler line, which now includes Realtree camo options.

“At IceMule, we make the world's most portable high-performance coolers - and so many of our customers use them in the field that they began asking us for a camouflage version,” Collie said.  “When we surveyed them one brand came to the top -- Realtree.  The combination is a natural and we're really excited about it. A serious cooler designed for extreme adventure, the IceMule Pro, available in Realtree Xtra (large and x-large sizes), can handle the roughest, most rugged conditions, while keeping food and beverages cold.

This high-performance cooler features 1000 denier exterior tarpaulin fabric, seams rated to 65 pounds and a padded, ventilated backpack strap system.
