Revenue of Leading Sporting Goods Retailers | Realtree Market Watch

 

Here’s a look at the top 20 sporting goods, footwear and apparel retailers in the U.S., using 2014 sales numbers, along with a look at the number of store locations. Note that numbers for stores selling in multiple categories, only sales of sporting goods, footwear and apparel are included here.

 

Top Sporting Goods Retails Locations

 

U.S. sales for sporting goods topped $43 billion in 2013, up from just over $30 billion in 2005. Of these sales in 2013, almost one-third came from athletic apparel and over 22 percent were generated from sporting goods equipment. Almost a quarter of the purchases of these goods were made in sporting goods stores in comparison to 13 percent purchased online.

 

Top Sporting Goods Retailers Footwear Apparel Revenue

 

Walmart was the leading retailer of sporting goods and apparel with $9.6 billion, up from $9.3 billion in 2013. Its closest competitor, Dick’s Sporting Goods, generated sales of $6.5 billion.
