Hunters love Christmas because they often find new calls, boots, bows and other gear under the tree. Of course, little reminders about their love of the outdoors lifestyle make the holidays even more special.
Enter Realtree-adorned seasonal gift wrap from Signature Products Group, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The company offers Realtree gift bags, wrapping paper and tissue paper to bring the outdoors inside for holiday buyers.
Ashley Vanderhoof, marketing manager at SPG, said the company has enjoyed a consistent consumer demand for camouflage lifestyle items, so working with Realtree and targeting the Christmas shopping season were natural moves.
“Partnering with Realtree has been great for SPG, and we are honored to be such a close licensee,” she said. “We value the input we receive on products, packaging, advertising and materials. And once the products are created, we receive great research that helps us better target our customers, social media support and advertising support — catalogs, online, lookbooks (and other avenues).”
Realtree gift wrap holds a special appeal for hunters because it reflects their passion for the outdoors, even during the off-season, Vanderhoof said. Further, that appeal isn’t confined to traditional hunting strongholds such as C and D counties.
“We believe that the holidays are about giving to those you care for, and giving them products that reflect what they love most. For our customers, that means the outdoors,” she said.
“This means providing relevant products that relate to their overall lifestyle and the looks they love. Not all outdoorsmen will live in rural areas, whether that’s because of jobs, schools or families. But that doesn’t mean that their love for the outdoors goes away.”
Vanderhoof said SPG refreshes its holiday wrapping line frequently to keep it relevant. Currently, if offers bags and wrap in several Realtree patterns and a pink/camo combination for ladies.
Likewise, the company takes a year-round marketing approach but makes special pushes for seasonal product lines.
“We plan product launches to hit seasonally (spring and fall), and the fall launches affect how we push for the holidays,” she said.
Of course, wrapping paper and gift bags aren’t the only holiday items that look great in Realtree. A quick scan of realtree.com revealed other appealing Christmas goodies, including tape, ornaments, gift stockings, tree skirts and cross necklaces decked out in America’s top camouflage.
It’s not surprising that manufacturers expect the outdoor-themed holiday business trend to continue or grow in future years. The only problem consumers might experience is trying to find those presents when Realtree wrapping paper makes them blend in so well with the background.
