Jostens has built a hugely successful business by celebrating people’s stories and achievements. And with so many folks living the outdoors lifestyle nowadays, it only seems right that camouflage has become a big part of those remembrances.
In Fall 2015, the Minneapolis, Minn.-based company introduced its CamoCast Collection, which features the first officially licensed camo designs for high-school class jewelry. The company, one of the country’s leading manufacturers of memorabilia — including yearbooks, class rings and championship rings — prides itself on providing what customers want, so licensing Realtree camo patterns was a natural.
“By partnering with Realtree, it broadens our consumer base as well as provides an extension for the Realtree equity — a win for us both,” said Laura Raether, national marketing and new business director for Jostens.
“With CamoCast metal casts and camo stones available in both rings and tags, students share their love for the great outdoors through their class rings and class tags. For the retail side, we created new designs leveraging the exclusive Realtree pattern.”
The new lines weren’t just an effort to create fresh revenue streams. For generations, the company has listened to customers and created custom items to commemorate milestones. Many of those customers wanted Realtree camo. Jostens is also no stranger to high-level associations, as it currently partners with Harley-Davidson, the Boy Scouts of America, the National Wild Turkey Federation and other organizations.
“As the leading customized jewelry provider, Jostens works with fashion trend experts and fashion-forward consumers to understand what’s new and cutting-edge,” Raether said. “We identified this need by not only listening to core consumers but also feedback from our retail partners across the country.
“The products that are featured in the Outdoor Collection are designed to appeal to not only the consumer that loves the outdoors, but also someone who enjoys bringing their passion into their everyday life through the jewelry that they wear. From a customer perspective, we have heard from their feedback that the jewelry category is growing with the consumer base, and the current selection of items is limited, so bringing fresh and new products is welcomed.”
In an equally important philosophy, Jostens partners with its retailers to market its brand to the retailer’s core consumers, Raether said. Ultimately, that two-way communication gives folks access to highly customized items.
And now that Realtree camo adorns those commemorative Jostens pieces, outdoorsmen can put a special twist on their milestones.
