Price and Free Shipping Important for Holiday Shoppers
This season's holiday shoppers say final price is the most important factor when buying. More than 1,000 American consumers age 18 and older responded to an October 2017 survey asking about their buying influencers. Almost two-thirds (61%) indicated final price including any promotional offers as an important influencer. More than half (51%) said free shipping without conditions was the most important influencer. Other important factors include product reviews and having in-stock products ready to ship.
Holiday Promotions Trigger Some Consumers to Buy
Will holiday promotions entice consumers to buy? More than 1,000 American consumers responded to an October 2017 Statista survey. They were asked if they were using holiday promotions to purchase a product they had before held off. (Several answers were possible). Twenty-three percent of respondents said they were using holiday promotions to buy clothing, textiles, shoes, while 21% planned to use promotions to buy computers and accessories. Some 47% of respondents didn't expect holiday promotions to change their buying decisions.
