2021 Winchester Realtree Camo SHOT Show Specials

This year was the first year since 1979 that the SHOT Show was canceled due to the global pandemic. For Winchester Repeating Arms, the SHOT Show is also where it announces exclusive SHOT Show Special guns. Undaunted with the SHOT Show’s cancellation, Winchester offered a variety of SHOT Show specials featuring impressive Realtree camo options via its Virtual SHOT Show this year. The SHOT Show Specials were featured on winchesterguns.com and through social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook.

We are fortunate to continue to partner with Realtree. Not only are they at the forefront in concealment, Realtree is an industry leader in conservation efforts, promoting hunting and the outdoor lifestyle and educating hunters.

-- Glenn Hatt, Winchester product manager

Hatt said Winchester has benefitted from a long and successful relationship with Realtree.

“From MAX-1 to Timber, Realtree camouflage patterns are consistently featured our best-selling models,” Hatt said. “Winchester offers the high-performance, reliable products that consumers desire, and Realtree camo patterns complement them with the cosmetics and concealment that work and function as well as the firearms they decorate.  Currently, we offer Realtree camouflage patterns on our Super X® Pump and Super X®4 product lines and leading those offerings are the extremely popular Realtree MAX-5 and Timber patterns.”

Winchester History

In 1857, Oliver Fisher Winchester purchased a controlling interest in the Volcanic Repeating Arms Company. On May 22, 1866, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company was born. For the next 14 years Winchester pursued new markets, created new products and explored new opportunities for his lever-action rifles, the Model 1866 “Yellow Boy,” and the “Gun that Won the West,” the Model 1873. Oliver F. Winchester died December 11, 1880 in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1883, company Vice-President Thomas Bennet took a train to Ogden, Utah to meet a man who was building an innovative single-shot rifle. That man was John Moses Browning and that rifle was his first patented design. Bennet secured the rights to Browning’s patent and two years later Winchester unveiled the Winchester Model 1885. Thus, began the career of the man that would become known as the most famous gun designer in history and the beginning of a successful partnership as Browning developed a number of rifles and shotguns sold under the Winchester name.

Winchester in the 20th century saw the development of the timeless Model 12 pump shotgun, massive growth due to wartime small arms production and also financial ruin which led to bankruptcy and being purchased by Western Cartridge Company in 1931. The new investors provided the capitol necessary to produce innovations such as the revered Model 70 bolt-action rifle and Model 52 rimfires and Model 21 double-barrel shotgun. In 1980, Winchester was again sold with firearms being produced by the US Repeating Arms Company. When US Repeating Arms Company declared bankruptcy in 1989, it was purchased by the Belgian Herstal Group, owners of the famed Fabrique Nationale and Browning brands. The acquisition has led to a renaissance of the Winchester Repeating Arms brand and rediscovery of success, with new models like the bolt-action XPR rifles, Super X®4 autoloading shotguns and Wildcat® rimfire rifles consistently introduced.
