Introducing New Jabra Bluetooth Headset in Realtree Camo

Realtree camo clothing? Check. Realtree accessories? Got ’em. Miniature Bluetooth headset for mobile phones decked out in Realtree Xtra?

What?

Sure.

Enter Jabra, a leading developer of wireless headsets, which offers the Jabra Mini Outdoor Edition headset featuring Realtree Xtra, crafted for lovers of the outdoors lifestyle. And although camo and headsets might seem like an odd coupling, folks at Jabra say it’s a perfect match. In fact, insights back that up.

“We are very focused on our target groups and their phone and device use,” said Linda Kjaer Petersen, senior product manager, Mobile Division, for Jabra. “A camo headset means that outdoor enthusiasts can now choose something that is more personal while still (being) able to have a product they can rely on every day. With the Realtree Xtra pattern, we differentiate from the competition and attract more users from our target group.”

That consumer group is somewhat diverse, however, so Kjaer Petersen said Jabra sees multiple possibilities for the Jabra Mini Outdoor Edition in Realtree Xtra.

“We do see an opportunity with both the more core hunter community and also the ‘lifestylers,’” she said. “However, the Jabra Mini Outdoor is not a ‘hard-core’ hunter/weatherproof product, but a great all-day headset with simple design, power-nap feature and up to nine hours of talk time. The camo pattern is about wearing something (like this headset) that expresses your outdoor lifestyle, even though you might be driving to work or going for coffee. We have received positive response from our channels, which appreciate a new look to the traditional black and silver Bluetooth headsets. They also approve of the selection of Realtree, which has a strong brand recognition.”

That branding helps provide an edge in the ultra-competitive headphone/headset market. Kjaer Peterson said great products that originate through strong research and development also help.

“At Jabra, our purpose is to, ‘Make life sound better,’” she said. “This we do through intelligent audio solutions, one example being our award winning Jabra Sport Pulse, which was the first wireless headset measuring pulse in the ear. Our sister company, Resound, is one of the top three hearing-aid manufacturers in the world, and sharing labs and research and development resources, Jabra is definitely all about ears.”

It’s not the first time Jabra has produced a special product for a target group. This past year saw the launch of Jabra’s toughest headset ever, Jabra Steel, featuring a five-year warranty. Such headsets are in demand, as many in the target audience are looking for high-quality audio in a headset with enhanced durability — or a camo look.

Marketing has also become more complex nowadays, especially in arenas such as the headphone/headset world. In response, Jabra takes a multi-pronged approach to spread the word about its products and accrue feedback from consumers.

“The Jabra Mini Outdoor edition is based on our best-selling Jabra Mini, so we are not talking about a completely new launch,” Kjaer Petersen said. “However, we believe we can take this very far, so the web and social media will be important channels to push this and get it placed in more channels. And of course, via Realtree’s marketing team.”

Jabra expects big things from the Mini Outdoor Edition in Realtree Xtra, which was launched in April. In fact, success with the headset might lead to more collaborations between the company and Realtree camo.

“We are exploring adding a new Realtree product when we have a little more feedback on this product over the coming quarters,” she said.

In the meantime, outdoors enthusiasts can enjoy chatting on a top-quality Bluetooth headset adorned with the world’s No. 1 camouflage.

Editor’s note: The Jabra Mini Outdoor Edition is available at Jabra.com and at the Realtree store.
